Find, equip and build your own police car.
I’ve always been infatuated with police cars. Police cars have always been designed to offer an intimidating and aggressive look in order to invoke professionalism. Once they come from the manufacturer, they must visit the outfitting and marking companies. Here they get the final touch where a regular car becomes a police car. Over the years police departments have added to their equipment from a simple light bar on the roof to corner lights and flashers on the mirrors. Some now offer lights along the ground effects on the side of the car. Markings remain rather simple, from the work police along the side to simple badge or patch decals on the door. Most departments match the LAPD black and white color scheme while others may do a long stripe from fender to fender. In the 90’s many departments in the Major City Police Chiefs Association in Massachusetts agreed to a simple white police car design with a six inch blue stripe down the side. This was designed during the height of the community policing effort where cops were attempting to appear less intimidating. Thus, the black (or blue) and white were discontinued to a simpler text only design. They were ugly.
